Project Description
Over the past 35 years, Cahill has been contracted to perform various new construction and maintenance/expansion projects within this hospital. During the initial construction of the hospital, Cahill was responsible for the electrical scope of the project which included the following:

High Voltage Incoming Service

Power Distribution System

Emergency Power Generation

Lighting and Small Power

Fire Alarm System

Nurse Call Station System

Dictation System

Communications system
In 1998, Cahill was contracted to perform a mechanical expansion to the central Utility Annex. Again, in 2000, Cahill was awarded a contract for further electrical upgrades to the annex.
In 2006, Cahill was contracted to perform new electrical and mechanical construction for the Health Sciences Centre Cancer Clinic Extension. This scope of this project included HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Systems (lighting, power, fire alarm, emergency power, communications, etc.)
Most recently in 2008, Cahill was contracted to perform a Boiler replacement at the hospital. The scope consisted of:

Replacement of 17.5MW steam boiler and appurtenances

Removing and disposing of existing primary High Temperature Hot Water(HTHW) Pumps

Removing, modifying and re-installing existing piping as required to provide access for the installation of the new boiler using strict welding procedures

Supplying and installing new primary HTHW pump

Electrical connection to the new boiler and HTHW pump

Electrical interconnection of boiler control panel with forced draft fan and controls located on the boiler

Commissioning the modified system, including the provision of assistance to the boiler manufacturer's commissioning personnel
All work was scheduled and completed in a manner to ensure that the central plant maintained services to the hospital and university facilities.
