GJ Cahill is accepting resumes from qualified candidates who attended the recent Job Fair in Ireland.

 

Estimators (Electrical, Mechanical & HVAC)

Cahill has an immediate requirement for Estimators to provide estimating support for its operations in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Cahill's Estimators develop cost estimates and assist in the procurement of equipment for projects, interact with suppliers and manufacturers, generate change order pricing, participate in project meetings and the bid process. The successful candidate will liaise with consultants, clients and tradespeople as required, detail miscellaneous AutoCAD drawings for as-builts and fabrication and create RFI's. The successful candidate will perform field checks/verifications, troubleshoot miscellaneous issues and perform other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have experience with drawings/blueprint reading, a keen attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills and a minimum five years experience in the construction industry or equivalent training and experience. The successful candidate will have experience with both commercial and industrial environments, knowledge of estimating software and AutoCAD is an asset, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

 

Area Manager - Labrador

Cahill has an immediate need for an Area Manager for our ongoing projects in Labrador City.

The Area Manager, as part of the Cahill management team, will manage a group of Project Managers and lead the company's Labrador projects to successful completion, while playing an active role with clients to foster confidence and trust in the capabilities of Cahill in the Labrador region.

The Area Manager will attend contract and project related meetings, deal directly with client cost controllers, contract administrators, HSE representatives and QA representatives. The Area Manager will ensure documentation is kept up‐to‐date and monitor and intervene to ensure equipment on the critical path is delivered on time, motivate and influence others to foster positive morale and increased productivity while developing strong working relationships with employees, clients and subcontractors.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience, and have a minimum of 15 years experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 of those years being in a management role. Post-graduate management training would be a definite asset.  A solid understanding of the Canadian Codes and Standards and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

 

Senior Corporate Planner

The Senior Corporate Planner will lead Cahill's planning group with scope definitions and develop project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS). The successful candidate will develop detailed project schedules and plans using Primavera Project Planner (P6) software and Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis; coordinate schedules with engineering, procurement and field supervisors; and attend project group meetings. The Senior Corporate Planner will perform Earned Value Management calculations; prepare S-Curves for measuring project performance and progress; lead field manpower estimates; assign resources to tasks; and prepare manpower loading reports.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Ten or more years planning experience in the construction industry is preferred. Planning experience in a multi-discipline environment and proficiency with P6 software are definite assets.



 

 

HVAC Technician / Estimator

Cahill has an immediate need for an HVAC Technician / Estimator to provide HVAC and Estimating support for its operations in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Cahill's HVAC Technician / Estimator will develop cost estimates and assist in the procurement of equipment for HVAC projects, interact with suppliers and manufacturers, generate change order pricing, participate in project meetings and the bid process. The successful candidate will liaise with consultants, clients and tradespeople as required, detail miscellaneous AutoCAD drawings for as-builts and fabrication and create RFI's. The successful candidate will have experience with both commercial and industrial environments, knowledge of estimating software and AutoCAD is an asset, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

 

Information Systems Developer

The IS Developer will be responsible for the development and ongoing support of applications around business process management, collaboration, business intelligence and enterprise content management. The successful candidate will review and develop functionality for current software and determine potential extended functionalities. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production cycle. The Developer will design queries, collaborate with third party developers, solve technical issues, create custom web parts and controls, and assist business analysts and end users.

This is a corporate position based in St. John's. The successful candidate will have experience developing web applications using Microsoft and compatible technologies including Visual Studio, VB.Net, C#, ASP.NET, SQL and relational database systems. Proficiency in SharePoint 2007/2010, SQL Server, IIS and XML, MS office and web services would be an asset. 

The ideal candidate possesses programming, analytical and problem-solving skills; together with a working knowledge of web development tools and internet applications.



 

Mechanical and Electrical Superintendents

As key project team members, Cahill's Electrical and Mechanical Superintendents will manage, plan, and monitor the electrical and mechanical aspects of a major commercial or industrial construction project from start to finish. They will supervise electrical and mechanical tradespeople and ensure QA/QC inspection and testing requirements are followed. They will manage procurement of materials and equipment,  oversee the preparation and submittal of shop drawings, estimate change orders and interact with company management and client representatives. The Superintendents will: provide field support to the fabrication shop and construction job site teams; liaise with consultants and clients as required; organize the daily planning and scheduling of activities; review and understand scope of work, project specifications, design instructions and supplier information.

The successful candidates will have a Journeyperson certification and a minimum of ten years construction experience with five of those years in a supervisory role. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully interface with clients and project team members.

 

Project Engineers

These are both full time, permanent and project positions.  Project Engineers from all disciplines will provide technical support to project teams.  Successful candidates will liaise with consultants, clients and trades people, contractors and subcontractors; prepare technical procedures and address technical inquiries; review specifications and shop drawings; participate in project meetings and provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget.

The ideal candidates possess a Bachelor of Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in a construction related position.  Exceptional communication skills and experience preparing and managing engineering drawings is a definite asset.

 

Project Coordinators

Cahill's Project Coordinators are required to provide technical support to the project management teams. They will assist with assembling costs and will review and create detailed CAD drawings. They will assist with Requests for Information, take-offs, field checks/verifications and will coordinate and oversee onsite subcontractor activities. The Project Coordinators will update and provide weekly safety, QA/QC and progress reports and will be responsible for document control for current projects and estimates. They will perform general administrative tasks which include distributing drawings and documents, drafting correspondence and other duties as assigned. 

The successful candidates will possess an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma with a proficiency in estimating, purchasing, procurement and reading drawings and specifications. They will have strong computer skills, a meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills and the ability to take initiative and thoroughly follow tasks through to completion. Successful candidates may be required to work in both an office and project site setting.

 

Planners

Cahill's Planner will be involved in all phases of the bidding process from the project proposal stage to project execution.  He/She will be proficient in and responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring weekly progression of projects and will collaborate with the estimating team on preparing bids, provide input on cash flow, develop detailed schedules and work breakdown structures to meet requirements and prepare weekly progress reports.  He/She will prepare project development, execution and control procedures.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering or CET with a mechanical or civil background and have a minimum of five years experience in a project planning role.  A proficiency in using Primavera P6 is required.

 

Scheduler

Cahill's Scheduler will develop project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and detailed project schedules and plans using Primavera Project Planner Software and Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis.  The Scheduler will coordinate schedules with engineering, procurement and field supervisors, attend project meetings, assist in the preparation of field manpower requirements, assign task resources and prepare manpower loading reports. 

This is a corporate position based in St. John's. The successful candidate will have three years planning/construction experience in a related industry.  A proficiency in using Primavera Planning Software is required.
